Understanding egg donation abroad
With our egg donation abroad programme, all embryo transfers take place in the Czech Republic in ISCARE, our sister IVF clinic in Prague. A part of the FutureLife Group, they are a European leader in reproductive medicine and women’s care.
With short waiting times, excellent success rates and exemplary patient care, ISCARE is a very popular choice for patients from Ireland who want to access IVF treatment overseas using anonymous egg donors. We make sure you’re fully supported right throughout your treatment abroad, whether it’s your consultations, any required testing, coordination or aftercare. Just as with patients receiving their IVF treatment in one of our clinics in Ireland, you’re sure of the same patient-focused, personalised care that we’ve built our reputation on.
Our success rates
Egg donation offers the highest pregnancy success rate compared to all other treatment options. The average pregnancy success rate for egg donation at ISCARE is up to 65% per treatment cycle.
What is egg donation?
In egg donation instead of using your own eggs, we use the eggs of a donor for your IVF treatment. There are a number of different diagnoses that may lead a doctor to recommend treatment such as:
Maternal age
Utilising donor eggs can enable a woman to attain a healthy pregnancy and conceive, even if she's no longer producing her own eggs.
Premature ovarian failure
The premature depletion of ovarian follicles can happen before the age of 40 years.
Egg quality
In cases where patients have failed to achieve pregnancy through IVF or ICSI due to suspected issues with their eggs, this may be attributed to factors such as age or, in some cases, the presence of poor quality eggs from birth.
Genetic reasons
Some genetic conditions in the mother can pose a risk to the offspring if inherited. In such cases, patients may choose donor eggs to prevent risks being passed on.

1
First consultation
Your first meeting at the clinic with a fertility doctor will assess your medical history and past fertility procedures to confirm egg donation as a suitable option.
2
Liaising with ReproMed and Iscare
After your initial consultation and diagnostics are complete, our coordinators will liaise with you and Iscare to fulfil required paperwork.
3
Your treatment cycle
Once all the paperwork and testing is complete, you will have a short consult with Iscare's doctor online to confirm the programme. ReproMed will then ship the frozen sperm for treatment.
4
Choose a suitable donor
Iscare's coordination team will initiate the donor assignment process, matching them to your specified criteria. Your cycle dates will then be confirmed and synchronized for a fresh embryo transfer.
5
Treatment and Travel
Iscare will provide timeline updates for donor egg collection and embryo transfer. Instructions and medication lists will be sent by Iscare, and ReproMed will prescribe them.
Your treatment cycle
Typically, one embryo is transferred but this varies depending on the quality and the age of the recipient. A recommendation will be made based on your specific case. Your wishes will, of course, be taken into account also.
ISCARE offer a vitrification (freezing) service and will freeze and store any surplus embryos for future use, if you wish. Your first year is included in the egg donation fee.
In cases where the male partner has a semen thaw analysis result confirmed here at ReproMed Ireland, whereby the count is >2million/ml and 2% normomorphology we are able to offer at least 2 embryos.
You will be assigned an egg donor within 2 to 3 weeks of your online consultation with ISCARE.
FAQs
Our coordinators will reach out to you initally, providing the necessary documentation and instructions for completion. Once we recieve this documentation, our coordinators will carefully review and forward it to their counterparts at ISCARE.
The cut - off age for donor egg treatment is 49 years of age. This means you will have your embryo transfer before the age of 49.
Donation in the Czech Republic is entirely anonymous, so it is not possible to meet the donor before or after treatment, nor for any offspring to contact the donor in the future.
Donors are selected from a database recruited by ISCARE based on the recipient criteria form provided by you, which includes your physical characteristics and the photos you provide. Every effort is made to choose a donor who closely matches you and your partner's physical characteristics
