Understanding egg donation in-house

With our in-house programme, all embryo transfers take place in our Dublin fertility clinic in Dundrum. Our in-house service is an ‘identifiable programme’, which means that the donors have consented to be contactable by their biological offspring when they reach the age of 18.

We collaborate closely with Ovumia, a renowned fertility clinic in Finland and part of our FutureLife Group family. Ovumia offers a top-tier identifiable egg donor service, allowing patients to utilise our In-House Egg Donor Programme at our Dublin and Galway clinics. This means you can access identifiable donor eggs without the need for international travel. This program is highly favoured by patients opting for IVF treatment with identifiable donor eggs, providing the convenience of receiving care near their home.

Our Success rates

Our in-house Egg Donation Programme, in partnership with Ovumia clinic, offers the highest success rate among fertility treatments, with an average of up to 60% per cycle.

Who are the egg donors?

Our donors are Finnish residents aged 20 to 35 who generously choose to donate eggs to help women who are struggling with infertility to conceive and have healthy pregnancies and babies. They undergo rigorous screening in line with Finnish laws and EU Tissues and Cells Directive standards. This includes comprehensive blood and genetic testing. Furthermore, each donor meets with an Ovumia psychologist to ensure they fully understand the implications of their donation and feel completely confident in their decision. They are extremely well cared for, receiving comprehensive support before during and after their procedure. Their decision to donate is altruistic and not commercial, although they do receive a modest reimbursement to cover their expenses incurred.

"For the initial consultation we did go to another clinic before ReproMed, but I just didn't feel comfortable so I heard great things about ReproMed so we decided okay let's go here. From the minute I walked in, everybody was just lovely and I thought this is it; I'm happy here and comfortable."

FAQs

No, all your treatment will take place here. We will send the sperm to Ovumia and ship the embryos back. The only situation where travel might be necessary is if the sperm sample is too poor to survive the freeze-thaw process, in which case we would need a fresh sample for treatment.

We understand that, as a future mom, you want the donor to share similar characteristics with you so that your baby resembles you as much as possible. Our donor coordinator will find the best possible match based on your physical features, such as height, hair colour, and eye colour.

One of the forms that you will be required to complete is a Donor Recipient Characteristics form. This gives us a physical description of you and your partner (if applicable) and every effort is made to choose a donor who matches you and your partner’s physical characteristics as closely as possible.

The legislation currently in place in both Ireland and Finland eans that the donors must be identifiable. This does not mean that you will get the personal details of your donor, however. This simply means that when your donor-conceived child turns 18, they will have access to the doctor's contact information for potential communication.

The patient can receive the donor's hair colour, eye colour, height size & ethnicity information when a donor has been assigned to them.

Yes, you can, but if no embryo/s are created no fees will be reimbursed as your sample did not meet the guarantee criteria. We will advise you if your sample does not meet the guarantee criteria.
