ReproMed welcomes the long-anticipated news that publicly funded IVF will be made available from 2023.
We hope that this will broaden access to much needed fertility treatments for those who have to date been unable to afford it. We have not had any communication from the Depts of Health or Finance or Public Expenditure about who will qualify for this funding: whether it will be means-tested or universal; how much will be made available per individual, nor what services it will cover. We believe from media reports that this will not come into effect until “late 2023″ but we urge the government to reveal the roadmap for its introduction so that patients and IVF service providers can plan accordingly. Fertility Treatment is a time sensitive issue for a significant portion of our patients and we are concerned about patients deferring treatment without a clear date of commencement for this funding.”
